The Overall 5th High Indexing Bull BB 695 is a great example of our breeding program which is designed to create all around complete cattle. We place emphasis on combining breed character, pigment, eye appeal, gentleness, complete performance, being competitive in the show ring, maternal longevity and of course fertility. 695 has it all. His pedigree includes 6 ABBA Trait Leaders, 4 Register of Renown’s, and one of the few Vanguard cows of the breed.
We purchased his sire NMSU 1136 from Dr. Neil Burcham at New Mexico State University as a 12 month old calf following him completing a performance test where he scanned a 4.47% IMF, and a 1.11 sq. inches/CWT. 1136 is dark pigmented, with loads of breed character and an under 6 frame score. Both 1136 and his sire 45/1 have been ranked in the ABBA Trait Leaders top 15 for Docility. 1136’s dam, 5118 produced 9 consecutive natural born calves, starting as a 2 year old in the rugged Desert areas of New Mexico.
695’s performance side of his pedigree includes multiple ABBA Carcass Trait Leaders, MR. 6X SUNLAND 874, AT RISO BO RELOTO 730, and +GAT METZ MANSO RIGGS 481/1. Also double ABBA Trait Leader for Birth Weight and Milk +MDS BERCH MANSO 155. +MDS 155 has also produced an All American Grand Champion Bull, one of the few ABBA Vanguard Cows, and one of the long term dominant bulls raised, shown and sires used in the southeast, +GS Emperor Didor 135. 155 is still being used today and is currently ranked in the top 40 Sires of Register of Renown bulls.
