We bought JTB Holy Smokes 1257/4 out of the 2015 Bull Test Sale. We had been looking for an outcross with JDH genetics and we loved his performance on test especially his imf being over 4. However the big thing was his phenotype especially the muscling in lower quarter . When we looked at his pedigree it sold us , his sire is double bred JJ 389 from Liberty and a 389 daughter JJ Ms DIdor Manso 690. His dam is out of Lawford and a Dakota daughter. He has correct feet and legs and moderate frame . We thought he would be the perfect bull to sire the kind of bulls we wanted to produce for commercial cattleman . With his first calf crop he has surpassed our expectations . He was the perfect outcross for our line bred Flying W genetics. The top 3 high indexing bulls in the 2018 bull test are out of Holy Smokes. He has 4 sons in the sale . We are keeping all of his heifers in first calf crop one of which had 6.46 imf and another a 5.78 imf. The heifers are stout and feminine with muscle especially the lower quarter. Holy Smokes is a proficient breeder siring 22 calves as a 2 year old and 30 this past spring. His calves are gentle and jump up and nurse soon after birth. Donated by Steve Wilkins – Flying W Ranch.
