The funds are managed by The Brahman Foundation, a 501c3 organization. In the first four years, we have awarded $11,000 to 11 LMC & Friends ANIMO winners. Our first ANIMO Award winner was Megan Lambert who inspired us to start The Brahman Foundation.
We met David, Chris, Stef and John Westfall at a McKellar Ranch sale in the late 70’s. We became best of friends, cattle partners and to this day visit each other frequently. John has been a mentor to our children, our children to his and now his to our grandchildren. After David’s funeral, his family asked us to help them disperse their herd. We first selected what we thought were the best 12 cows and brought them to LMC to continue David’s dream of breeding the best Brahman cattle possible. The best cow in the group was 707 who happened to be POLLED. She delivered the now world renown LMC WFF Pistolero a month later. The rest is history as Pistolero and this group of cows served as the foundation for our POLLED herd today.
David would call his best friends PISTOL and thus the name Pistolero. He is the grand sire to LMC WFF Jimmy who sells today in the prime of his life. He has had limited service breeding a handful of cows at John’s El Milagro Ranch in Fredericksburg.
He is a moderate sized, double bred 707 proven sire with a solid conformation, good disposition, a tight sheath, lots of pigment, muscle and breed character. His calves are good, are built like him and are easy to sell. He is sired by LMC Apollo, a Pistolero son out of our first JDH donor, a JDH Charley’s Jazz cow. His dam (707 daughter) is still in the herd and is a full sister to LMC Polled Maestro. As you can see in his photo below, Apollo was an outstanding bull as is his son selling in this sale. If you have any questions, please call Dr. John Westfall at 830-456-1975.
