Grade 8 - BROILERS - My name is Josh Bush and I will be showing broilers in the 2020 Robertson County Fair. I learned that these are extraordinary creatures that if cared for completely they can turn into beautiful birds. I also learned that taking care of broilers is hard work but it pays off in the long run. Lastly I learned that the hardest part of caring for the birds is when they are just chicks and they are just beginning to grow. With them growing eating and drinking so fast you have to give them constant care. I have spent a lot of time with the birds from the first moment we got them to culling the birds and tending to them in general. Most of the time spent was not just in feeding and caring for the birds but in maintenance work like setting up pens and keeping them with clean shavings. Even though the result of the fair is not what we wanted it hasn’t stopped me from wanting to do this again next year.
