BBS Simbrah would like to THANK the Guerra Family for inviting us to be a part of the 2020 Giving Thanks Sale but more importantly for their friendship over many years in the cattle business. We are proud to start a Scholarship in honor of our parents Kenneth and Mildred. They started their life together 64+ years ago. A couple of months after their marriage, they joined Kenneth’s brother, Leland on his dairy farm in Wilson County. Over the years the dairy grew, as well as the farming operation, commerical cattle and a commerical spraying business were added as well.
In 1979, they bought out Leland to make a go of it on their own. In 1982 Russell joined the operation after graduating from Texas A & M as did Russell’s wife Margie after their marriage in 1982. It was during this time that we started dipping our toes in the Simbrah business having used Simmental bulls on commerical Brahman females for several years. Scott joined us in 1988 also having graduated from Texas A & M. Scott and Diane married in 1989. She completed the management team we have today along with several KEY employees.
Our parents worked hard to make a go of it in Agriculture and they “encouraged” us to work hard as well and for that we are grateful. Even though neither of them had the opportuinity to further their education beyond high school, they always encouraged us as we started considering our options after high school. They also helped us in paying for college. Dad said that because we took the “opportunity” to work on the farm whenever we could ! When we started raising families of our own, they were just as supportive of their grandkids as they had been for us. It did not matter if it was stock shows, sporting events, church events or dance recitals they would make a super effort to be there.
Mom and Dad , we are grateful for all that you have done for our family, for our agricultural operations and it is an honor for all of our family to start this scholarship in your honor!!

Jennie’s progeny have gone on to do some big things of their own including producing the reigning National Champion Female in San Antonio, the 2019 Reserve National Champion Female, the back-to-back Grand Champion Bull in Louisiana, the 2018 Reserve Champion Female at the San Antonio Junior Show, the Grand Champion Female at the 2020 United Show and the list goes on. Jennie Walker and her progeny have also produced numerous RGVBIA Performance Gain Test Champions, including LMC BBS Rambler and LMC Chairman.
