On behalf of our consignors, our committee and myself, I would like to welcome you to our fourth online bull sale.   We are excited to offer you 21 bulls of 5 different breeds, Braford, Polled Brahman, Braunvieh, Santa Gertrudis and Simbrah.   All these bulls have an overall test ratio of 100 or better and have passed a breeding soundness exam and are negative for trich.  These bulls are put on a 110 day gain test and are measured for Average Daily Gain (30%), Rib-eye Area/cwt (20%), Weight per day of Age (20%), Percent IMF “Marbling” (20%), and Scrotal Circumference (10%).   Bulls are ranked by breed and by age.   This year we had four age groups, Senior Bulls – Spring 2019, Intermediate Bulls – Summer 2019, Junior Bulls – Fall 2019 and Calf Bulls – Spring 2020.

The Rio Grande Valley Beef Improvement Association was created in 1998 to assist cattlemen in improving the quality of their livestock.   The bull gain test is an official gain test conducted by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, under the direction of Dr. Joe Paschal, Extension Beef Cattle Specialist, and County Agents from Cameron, Hidalgo, Starr and Willacy Counties.   Successful gain test and heifer development programs have been held every year since 1998.  A total of 1505 bulls and 1060 heifers have gone through this program.

New this year due to feedlot management and Covid all sale bulls are back at the ranches that consigned them.  Contact information for each lot will be provided.  Pick up of bulls will have to be arranged between seller and buyer once sale is over.

I would like to thank Mike Risica, Rio Beef Feedyard, and his staff for being so accommodating to this program and helping care for our bulls and heifers through-out the years.  If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me, Carlos Guerra Jr., Sale Chairman, at (956) 330-1963 or email me at cxg2000@aol.com.  We THANK YOU for your interest and we are looking forward to selling you a bull.

Su Amigo,

Carlos X. Guerra Jr.

Sale Chairman

Close Out Process

This Sale will feature the Cattle In Motion All In - All Done Sale Close Out Format.

So if the Lots are set to close at 7PM and with four minutes left (6:56PM), some one bids on lot 4, then enough time is added back to the clock to allow ALL lots to have 5 minutes (new close time is 7:01PM on ALL Lots), and the countdown resumes. Then if someone bids on Lot 8 at 6:59PM, then ALL lots are extended until 7:04PM. this process will go on until no one bids for a period of 5 minutes on ANY Lot.
